4:53 PM So here are maps made from Google Earth of the two trails mentioned below.
Royal Arch trail, the one I hiked today, is 4 miles round-trip. It’s labeled “moderate” on the official map, but the guide at the visitor’s center said he would label it more toward “strenuous” if it were up to him. He said that, on a clear day, from the very top (around 6800 feet above sea level), you can see as far as Kansas. Data below from this site.
Round-Trip Length: 3.5 miles
Start / End Elevation: 5,710′ – 6,950′ (6,950′ max elevation)
Elevation Change: +1,240 net elevation gain (+1,365′ total roundtrip elevation gain)
Skill Level: Moderate – Strenuous

Doudy Draw trail was a great singletrack ride. I hadn’t ridden my bike in over 2 years, and this was the first time I was getting back on it since then. The climbing was slow and strenuous, but it didn’t take me too long to realize I was already adapting to the strain of activity and the general altitude. I biked for almost two hours with a friend I met on a biking forum online. (Data source.)
Round-Trip Length: 6.4 miles
Start / End Elevation: 5,600′ – 5,900′ (6,120′ max elevation)
Elevation Change: +300′ net gain (+647′ total roundtrip elevation gain)
Skill Level: Easy – Moderate

4:34 PM Finally, I did it. After…two weeks in Boulder, I finally went mountain biking and hiking! Today I went hiking for 3 hours, and on Friday mountain biking for nearly 2 hours. I’ll post more details later, hopefully with maps.
3:16 Family kind of sucks.
I forgot to mention last night the other book I acquired at a garage sale:
